About
Dr. Gaurav Majumdar is the Chief Embryologist at the Centre of IVF, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi.
He is one of the first fully trained and certified embryologists in India, having completed a masters degree in Clinical Embryology from National University of Singapore in 2001. He subsequently received a PhD for his research in Pre-Implantation Genetic Screening in human embryos in 2018.
Over the last 20 years of his work in the IVF laboratory, he and his team of clinical embryologists have been instrumental in improving the standard of IVF laboratory to such an extent that today the Centre of IVF, SGRH boasts of one of the highest pregnancy rates and live birth rates in the country.
He has meticulously fine tuned and optimised embryo culture protocols to produce high quality embryos in the lab, which now allows us to predominantly transfer only single embryos and yet maintain exceptionally high pregnancy rates of ~ 60%. Read more about our elective single embryo program

For complex and challenging IVF cases, especially with repeated failures, he performs a thorough review of the embryology details of the previous failed cycles and provides helpful insights in selecting the right treatment options for you.
In addition to achieving excellence in the laboratory, Dr. Gaurav works hard towards improving patient care and lays a lot of stress on patient counselling, helping them cope with the emotional journey of IVF.
He is also an active teacher, training and disseminating knowledge to his fellow embryologists.

Awarded the Economic Times fertility award for the Embryologist of the year, India, 2019
In 2014, he successfully set up a PGS/PGD program at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital which now runs an in-house genetic testing facility using qPCR to screen embryos for aneuploidy.
Faculty at Amity University for the one year post graduate Diploma in Clinical Embryology course.
Developed a successful oocyte freezing program and a vitrification program at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and has to his credit the first pregnancy from frozen oocytes in northern India.
Appointed Subject expert in ‘Embryology’ by National Board of examinations, Govt. of India for setting embryology questions for exit exam for fellowship in Reproductive medicine.
Responsible for training and teaching of two full time in-house embryology fellows every year since 2017, one from Diploma in Clinical Embryology, Amity University, under the aegis of Indian Fertility Society (IFS) and the second student from Indian Society of Assisted Reproduction (ISAR).
Publications in international and national Pubmed Indexed journals and more than 50 guest lectures in various international and national conferences as an embryology expert.
