About
Dr Abha Majumdar has been a very meritorious doctor having stood first in her final MBBS examination and broken all previous records during her medical career. She won 7 gold medals and awarded the presidents medal for the best girl student at her university. She continues to receive numerous awards and accolades now also as a clinician. (list)
She is an insatiable learner and applies scientific knowledge pragmatically to her work. This quality was pivotal in establishing the technology of IVF, and she with her team became responsible for the first IVF baby of northern India, delivered at Sir Ganga Ram hospital, in the year 1991. Under her leadership in the last 3 decades this centre has grown into one of the largest institutional centres of the country catering to a huge number of IVF cycles every year with pregnancy rates matching those of the best centres across the globe.
She is one of the few IVF clinicians who continues to manage high-risk IVF pregnancies as well as perform fertility enhancing surgeries endoscopically, thus treating all aspects of infertility.
As a professional, she does not hesitate in applying new methods to her work, exploring the world literature for reports of very challenging cases and their management
She is also the first and only clinician who has been recognized to run the fellowship program in reproductive medicine by NBE from the private sector in Northern India. Her priority is to share her learnings and expertise by means of lectures, articles, and videos, with fellow junior doctors wishing to learn.
In her professional life she is a dedicated medical practitioner who has prioritized her patient’s physical, emotional, and mental concerns, and maintains the highest ethical standards while imparting treatment to her patients.
